Hiking in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote for 9 days

Each island of the Canarian archipelago has its own identity. Being so close to each other, the topography, vegetation and fauna have nothing to do with each other. While El Hierro, La Palma and Tenerife have a complex, abrupt, mountainous orography;

Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are islands with a less abrupt topography but continuous with the presence of mountains of volcanic origin in the form of cones, craters and volcanic pythons.

While La Gomera has extensive laurel forests, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote give us much more arid landscapes, beautiful for the multicolored variety of different shades mixed with a variety of colors of its beautiful coasts.

On this trip you will get to know Fuerteventura and Lanzarote by walking along their volcanoes, their wild coasts and their islets.

You will live an unforgettable experience that will give you images of beautiful landscapes, fragrances and contact with the friendly inhabitants of these islands.

Excursions suitable for active people who walk in the mountains on the weekends and who are able to make slopes of between 400 and 600 metres a day at a steady pace with a duration of between 3 and 5 hours including stops.

× Ferry to the island of Lobos (16 euros round trip) and to the island of La Graciosa (27 euros round trip)

× Entrance to protected areas requiring payment of an entrance fee

× Any additional activity to trekking that requires the payment of an entrance fee (swimming pools, museums, etc.)

Day 1. Flight to Fuerteventura (FUE). Reception at the airport and transfer to the accommodation. Depending on the arrival time, it will be possible to visit the area.

Day 2. Excursion Morro Jable-Cofete. Natural Park of Jandia.

Distance 15 km. Slope + 600 m Slope – 600 m Estimated time 4-6 hours (option to shorten the route for those who wish to do so).

Day 3. El Cardón Mountain. Betancuria Rural Park. El Cotillo-Playa del Esquinzo

During this day we will make three visits from south to north with several walks in three unique places of Fuerteventura: we will ascend the mountain El Cardón, visit the Rural Park of Betancuria with a mandatory stop in Betancuria and the Mirador de Morro Veloso and finish with a beautiful sunset walking along beaches and cliffs on the way to the Playa del Esquinzo.

Distance 7 km. Unevenness + 120 m Unevenness – 120 m Estimated time 2-3 hours

Day 4. Excursion to Lobos Island. Natural Park of Lobos Island. Visit to Corralejo beach, Calderón Hondo Volcano, Malpaís de la Arena and Oliva.

Distance 12 km. Difference in level + 110 m Difference in level – 110 m Estimated time 3-4 hours.

*Option to hire a boat trip of approximately 3 hours.

Day 5. Transfer by vehicle to Corralejo. Transfer by ferry from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote. Excursion to the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, Femés-Playas de la Casa and Arena-Playa Quemada.

Distance 10 km. Difference in height + 220 m Difference in height – 540 m Estimated time 3-4 hours

Day 6. Timanfaya National Park. Excursion to the Caldera Blanca, Hilario Islet and option of taking the Volcanoes Route by bus. Visit of the Jaemos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes.

Distance 10 km. Slope + 350 m Slope – 350 m Estimated time 3 hours

Day 7. La Graciosa Island. Excursion in the area. Swimming in the beach. Natural park of the Archipelago Chinijo.

Distance 16 km. Difference in level + 200 m Difference in level – 200 m Estimated time 4 hours.

Day 8. The Gracioseros Path. Visit to the Mirador del Rio and Cesar Manrique museum.

Distance 9 km. Elevation gain + 400 m Elevation gain – 400 m Estimated time 5 hours.

Day 9. Transfer to the airport of Lanzarote and return flight.

The reservation can be cancelled at any time before the beginning of the trip, with the following implications:
If the cancellation takes place before 30 days of the beginning of the trip -including the 30th day-, the full amount of the trip will be refunded.
If the cancellation takes place between 15 and 29 days before the beginning of the trip, 50% of the total amount of the trip will be refunded.
If the cancellation takes place 14 days before the trip, the amount of the trip will not be refunded.
