Autumn landscapes in the Irati Valley and Salazar
Travel to the Irati Forest, visit beautiful villages such as Ochagavía and enjoy the excellent local cuisine. We offer a 3-day mountain break, climbing to the top of the Ori “Orhi” and travelling through lush valleys of deciduous forests
The Irati Forest, the second largest beech forest in Europe, after the Black Forest in Germany, is a great attraction all year round, although autumn is a very special season to visit it due to the polychrome of the forest
It is home to three protected areas: the Mendilatz Nature Reserve in Orbaizeta, the Tristuibartea Nature Reserve in Hiriberri/Villanueva de Aezkoa and the Lizardoia Integral Reserve
In the Irati Forest, beech and fir forests combine to form a large forest mass of 17,000 hectares located between the valleys of Aezkoa and Salazar, in the heart of the Pyrenees of Navarre
